The Denver Broncos... Colorado is my home state. From
the moment the Denver Broncos first took the field on a
rainy day in Boston (the first AFL game ever played) it
was love at first sight for everybody in the region. The
Broncos were the 1st major pro sports
franchise in the Rocky Mountain Region. It meant that our
state and capitol had "made it". In the
beginning years they werent very good, and those
silly garish orange uniforms with a big D on their
helmets were at times, not very tasteful. Good or bad, we
loved them. Soon half our wardrobes were Bronco uniforms.
They adorned our kids, homes, cars, businesses,
restaurants and bars. They also got our full attention
every weekend they played. On those very special weekends
when the Broncos played at Mile High - the whole region
had a holiday. Their presence, good or usually bad had a
unifying effect it was the one topic everybody
could talk about and agree about we loved and
still love our Broncos.
When John Elway joined the team in 1982,
the Broncos finally really arrived. We always knew that
with Big John, we were always in the game. Since his
arrival the Broncos have been one of the most successful
NFL franchises. He did it with class and style.. always
gracious and mannerly. It's always nice to see a "good
guy" do well. He made us proud he was one of
us. Every Sunday he played, lifes problems and
irritations vanished as we watched the great quarterback
and our beloved Broncos play the unique American game of
football. He will no longer be in my home those fall days
when the Aspen starts to turn yellow in the Rocky
Mountains. thats what Ill miss the
most.
For Bronco fans, the last 2 seasons have been as about as
good at it gets! Were going to miss the "dives
and drives" Thanks Big John.
The good news is that because DirecTV and the internet,
You can keep up on the Broncos.- no matter how far you
are from Mile High stadium. Below are links I use to keep
up with the Broncos.
